Mountain Valley Raceway

About Mountain Valley Raceway

Located in the beautiful Hayfork Valley surrounded by majestic mountains, Mountain Valley Raceway is a 3/8 mile dirt track with a large grandstand area, great people and great food. You’ll be greeted by friendly faces and find out Pit Spots amongst the pine trees. You may even spot a deer or two. We race Mini Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Sport Modifieds and the crowd favorite Enduros.

Mission Statement

Our Non-Profit Mission is to foster an interest in racing to future generations and to foster an interest in the mechanical trades through donations to high school students in Trinity County to further their education in mechanics, auto-body, agricultural mechanics and/or heavy equipment mechanics.

Mountain Valley Raceway began in 2012 as Hayfork Speedway. With the help of a handful of people working on weekends, the track took shape. One man in particular was instrumental in getting the track off the ground, Clyde Cordell began watching NASCAR when he was young. When he came to Redding, his eldest son Wayne Lowe, began racing at Shasta Speedway with Clyde on his pit crew.

Bob Lowe, Wayne’s brother, began talking to Clyde about starting a track in Hayfork with the hopes of having a cart track for kids to race at just like Wayne and Bob did at the indoor cart track in Red Bluff. Unfortunately, Clyde passed away before having the pleasure of seeing the first race.

Mountain Valley Raceway continues the tradition of the Clyde Cordell Memorial Race each year at the Trinity County Fair. Mrs. Cordell attends each memorial race to hand out the Clyde Cordell trophy and to wave the green flag in honor of her late husband.
